DIRECTIONS TO MELROSE HOUSE

All London airports are situated between 25 and 50 miles outside the London area, and taxis vary in price and are usually rather expensive if not pre booked .  However, our public transport system is very effective and quite easy to master.  There are several metro stations within easy reach of Melrose House, the quickest train (from Penge East) goes from Victoria Station in the centre.

From Heathrow airport you take the underground train (Piccadilly line) to Barons Court, and there cross the platform and take the District line train to Victoria Station.

From Gatwick airport we usually recommend taking the train to East Croydon and then a taxi to Melrose House, or take the train to Victoria Station.

From Stansted airport the train goes to Liverpool Street Station but we recommend taking this train as far as Tottenham Hale, then the underground train to Victoria Station.

At Victoria go to the main line terminal and take a train to Penge East (this train is an overground metro and takes 16 minutes and is on the Orpington line).  At Penge East it is a short walk to Melrose House.

A travelcard can be purchased to take you on all London transport for the day.  Travelcards can be bought on line at www.tfl.gov.uk.

There are also buses that runs from Heathrow and Stansted to Victoria, if you do not want to use the underground system.

AREA HIGHLIGHTS

Melrose House lies within a triangle of three major towns: Bromley in Kent, Croydon in Surrey and Greenwich in south London. Bromley and Croydon are both big shopping centres, and Greenwich is famous for its maritime history, the meridian observatory, ancient shops, antique markets and village atmosphere. The famous Crystal Palace Park and sports centre is only a 10 minute walk from the House.

Much as we love children, we find that Melrose House
is not suitable for very young children.
